All I Want for Christmas in my NEW LITTLE GIRL!

Hello friends and family!

If you haven't heard by now, tomorrow is the day we bring our daughter home! The family is sooooooo excited to have this day upon us. It's the ENTIRE reason why we added onto our home. We have been waiting 22 months (Feb. '06) for this day to happen, and it is almost here!

The cameras have been charged. The car seat has been strapped into the Durango. Grandmas and Grandpas, aunts and uncles, friends and by-passers on the street have been notified. We are driving out to DIA tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday, Dec. 18th), 2pm, and picking up Kim Mee Zimmer from the airport and bringing her home in time for CHRISTMAS!

We are very, very excited. All of us. The paperwork has been shuffled and the red tape has been cut. Right now Kim Zimmer is legally ours...and she's flying high above the Pacific while we're all flying high above the Rockies (the last one was a metaphor!)

Because of a glitch on the Korean paperwork side, Kim is being escorted her stateside rather than us traveling to Korea. We're a bit bummed about not being able to travel, but it's all going to work out for the better. She'll get here much faster than if we would have traveled, and we get to avoid all of the uspleasentries of traveling: jet lag, airport food, hotels, language barrier, escorting a baby via airplane for 24 hours.

Our friends have spontaneously invited themselves to join us at the DIA fountains where Kim will be hand-delivered to us. We welcome their presence and hope that the fanfare isn't too overwhelming for our weary traveler.

I don't have any pictures to share right now, and I'm so excited I can barely type. Plus I'm kinda tired. The next few weeks are going to be exhausting, but fortunately we are not flying solo. Jade and Kaleb are thrilled to pieces at the arrival of their new little sister. Jade can barely stand the wait. Kaleb has been praying non-stop for her since the phone call on Thursday. Kathy's mom is going to join us up in Breck to help take care of Kim, which will offer some sense of familiarity for her. It also means that we are all going to be able to enjoy the mountains this year...what a trip for Kimmie!

Keep watching the blog as I will MOST DEFINITELY wear myself out taking pictures and uploading them for you all to share in our experience!

With much love and anticipation....

Aaron, Kathy, Jade, Kaleb, and ............

p.s. For those of you who have been wondering...

Kim Mee Zimmer was born April 7th, 2007. Her birth name is So Mee Bae. "Mee" in Korean means "beautiful". She is going to be a third generation Korean orphan in our family, as both Kathy and her mom were orphans. When Kathy's folks adopted her, they originally had selected two children for adoption, one named "Okja" (which translated means "Jade"), and the other was named "Kim" (which translated means "Seaweed" ....just kidding!) They gave Okja her American name: Katherine Young Elizabeth Kahler. But Kim's biological father had a change of heart and came back for her, leaving Kathy to be raised without a sibling. We've always had a heart for naming our second daughter "Kim" for the memory that never became. As a cute nick-name, we began referring to her as "Kimmie", even before we had a face for the name. When we were matched with So Mee Bae, it was perfect for us to keep her Korean middle name for her new name, hence Kim Mee Zimmer. I prefer to spell it "Kimmie", while Kat prefers "Kimmee". Since it's a nick-name, you can spell it as you wish!

Good night my friends! Wish us luck!

UPDATE: Tuesday morning. Last night I had the worst sleep EVAR! Geez, wonder why? Anywhoo, we checked on her flight this morning and all is well -- she's still scheduled to arrive at DIA shortly after 2pm! AHhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! Stay tuned!!!
